“Here are detailed photos of the Khrabdyis Assault Claw from Forge World that debuted at the Horus Heresy Weekender. Will Hayes is the sculptor. Retractable Landing Legs. Possibly only Chaos. Possibly a Super Heavy (2 Structure points). Has a huge melta weapon and multiple missile launchers. A Flyer with Hover Mode.”

Want! :D

I thought I had a brilliant idea this weekend.

When I finish my currently expanding Luna Wolves force I want to do a Genestealer Cult army, and I thought I had a clever idea for it. I spoke to a couple of friends at the weekender and they all thought it was brilliant.

Then this morning it hit me. I was just rehashing a very old friend’s brilliant idea from 3 or 4 years ago. Ah well, never mind it’s still a brilliant idea so I am nicking it.

The main plan is to have the army lead by a Tyranid Prime and have several warrior squads backing him up, but convert the existing models to look more Genestealer like. So more of a stooping pose, smaller less armoured looking heads, and the three clawed arms.

The Prime would represent the original Patriarch, and the Warriors are the Purestrain children of the 4th generation of the Genestealer cult.

Then use Cadian Guardsmen models as Cultists and 3rd and 4th generation Genestealer Hybrids. Rules wise they would count-as Termagants, as if you look at the stat lines they are almost identical, one extra point of initiative (Tyranid genetics have made them quicker and more agile) and have one less point of leadership (utterly dependent on the brood mind for guidance).

For weaponry Devourers would be armed with rotary stubbers looted from the PDF armoury, Fleshborers would be Shotguns and Spike Rifles could be Autoguns.

Homogaunts can be represented on the tabletop by 1st and 2nd generation Genestealer Hybrids converted out of Catachan Guardsmen. Model the legs to be running, add extra arms from Genestealer models and make the human head more alien by filing down the forehead and adding some simple greenstuff ridges on their heads.

This won’t be a fantastically competitive army, but it will be a fun one if I ever get round to them.

The Wisteria outside the office has started to bloom. Lovely purple flowers, but they have attracted a whole load of bees that have built their hive in the roof of the building.

I had a most exciting evening last night, scrubbing resin. :) Ok so the start of a hobby project is never the most exciting bit, but it’s great to get some momentum going. Plus the washing stage gives you a chance to let your mind wander and think about what you are going to do with them and think about the story behind your toy soldiers.

Part of the mess in the bucket is a Relic Contemptor Dreadnought. Now he has a pair of Power Claws so I like to imagine that this whole dying and being sealed in a can has left him an awfully bellicose individual, and that he likes to get up close and tear his enemies apart. For those hard to reach opponents, a pair of plasma blasters and a havok launcher give him the ability to kill at range.

A quick pan of the Isstvan V table. No Primarchs in attendance on this part of the battlefield, but still lots of action to see.

It’s another Dunbrough shot. Sometimes I walk into the room, see it from a certain angle I hadn’t noticed, and have to shoot it.

I love this village. My next home needs to be big enough to have a hobby room instead of a hobby corner.

Random one from a few weeks ago. As the sun sets in Nottingham the stained windows in warhammer world make for a very nice light show over the new cityfighting board.

102-Year-Old Abandoned Ship is a Floating Forest / Image by Andy Brill
The SS Ayrfield is one of many decommissioned ships in the Homebush Bay, just west of Sydney, but what separates it from the other stranded vessels is the incredible foliage that adorns the rusted hull. The beautiful spectacle, also referred to as The Floating Forest, adds a bit of life to the area, which happens to be a sort of ship graveyard.

“Life finds a way.” :D
